Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable technician to join our installation and
service team on an hourly basis. This role involves
- installing steel chutes, intake doors, and fire safety doors.
- performing preventative maintenance on chute doors.
- reading blueprints, filling out reports
This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring technical aptitude with
general hand tools.
The successful candidate must consistently arrive on time to the job site
and demonstrate a client-focused attitude, delivering services with the
highest level of professionalism and courtesy.
Core Responsibilities
- Installation: Assemble and install steel garbage and linen chutes in new construction and existing occupied high-rise buildings.
- Maintenance: Inspect and clean existing chute systems, replacing doors, fire dampers, and handles.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work meets NFPA fire codes and company safety regulations.
- Documentation: Complete daily job reports and report progress to the site foreman
Required Qualifications
- Resides in Nashville, Tennessee
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency using power tools (drills, grinders, saws) and measuring
tools. - Proof of Construction Experience: Applicants must provide
documentation verifying prior construction work, such as recent
pay stubs, trade union badges, previous employer verification
letters, or OSHA/trade certification cards. - Chute Manufacturer Experience: Must have demonstrated experience
working with chute manufacturers (e.g., familiarity with specific brands,
systems, or components from major chute manufacturers). - Ability to manage time effectively while on the road, ensuring timely
completion of work orders and accurate reporting. - Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; comfortable with long
distance, overnight, and multi-state travel. - Passport Eligibility: Must be able to obtain a passport (no felonies).
- Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background
check. - Drug Screening: Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Bonus Qualifications
- 5+ years of chute experience
- 10+ years of construction experience.
- 10+ years of welding experience.
- OSHA certification.
- Experience with fire-rated building components.
